About the project

Żabiński Villa is a historic site located in the Warsaw Zoo, which was once the official accommodation for the director of the Garden – Jan Zabinski and his family. Zabinski house during the World War II was called “Villa under the crazy star”. This site has a fascinating, multi-layered story that was the basis for revitalization project, in order to incorporate the house into the path of urban tourism named “The Pianist Route”. The path follows footsteps of Wladyslaw Szpilman, the great Polish pianist of Jewish origin. Revitalization works has been completed. They were carried out with the participation of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Regional Operational Programme of Mazovia, Action 6.2 “Using natural and cultural resources for the development of tourism and recreation.”
Zabiński Villa is the heart of the “The Pianist Route”. It is a place open for public. Its interior hosts the Chamber of Remembrance arranged during the project. In the garden adjacent to the Villa many cultural events will take place – in particular the piano concerts – but also lectures, exhibitions, lectures and recitation evenings.
