At the intersection of Sierakowski and Jasinski streets is one of the most interesting landmarks of old Prague: the building of the former hospital morgues Building, with its complex shape and monumental housing of the main entrance, was established in 1908 by the Felician Rakiewicz’s design. It once housed the mortuary chapel for the poor residents of the district and a morgue – the place where the dead body was exposed to public view in order to identify them. There were also offices for forensic medicine. In terms of architecture old morgue is extremely interesting. Its solid and picturesque decorations, referring to ancient art, make it one of the most valuable sights of old Prague. Today the building houses the Prague hospital’s dialysis station.
